relaxation

after a few days visiting friends in Kenya, i'm back in Uganda. i got to just hang out with them and visit their church, where we helped them build a water tank for a kid's program. it was amazing, to see it all put together and functioning.

it was nice to get to go swimming and eat good food too. i had the best hotdog in all of africa, i'm convinced. usually, the bun is like a small loaf of bread cut in half with a sausage in the middle. but no, this was a real bun with a real hotdog. the owner was impressed when i told her this. in case you're ever there, it's the shell station along the highway in nakuru, kenya!

intersting story, i almost was thrown out of the country for good when the immigration official told me i had the wrong visa (which i'm sure i don't) and would have to get a work visa for uganda. good thing the immigration official on my way back in didn't have such a problem...

i'm scheduled to start the day and a half long journey to liberia tomorrow morning. and i'm looking forward to it. you'd think two 10-hour bus rides in the past week would have worn me out...this time will be all planes, but a few layovers. i don't know why but i can ride a bus forever. just seeing the countryside and listening to music. EXCEPT when the bus driver has decided to play a four hour long Nigerian film. i'm sorry to all Nigerian film fans out there, but this one was terrible. about a woman who has a child with her late sister's husband and beats his children. i've never been so glad to get to the end of a trip. and a film.
